Crystal Beach homes: small footprints, heavy loads
Crystal Beach is Destin’s walk-to-the-beach cottage neighborhood — colorful raised homes, many operating as vacation rentals with near-continuous summer occupancy. A system here runs harder than the same tonnage would in a year-round family home: thermostats get set to 68 by arriving guests, doors stay open to the porch, and the equipment never gets a shoulder-season break because the rental calendar doesn’t have one.
Add Gulf salt a few hundred feet away and you get the Crystal Beach signature: condensers that look ten years old at five, and capacitors and fan motors that fail on the hottest weekends of the year.
What we fix most in Crystal Beach
- Peak-weekend breakdowns. Capacitors, contactors, and condenser fan motors under salt attack and max duty. Our trucks stock these — most no-cool calls are running again the same day.
- Guest-comfort humidity complaints. Oversized replacements installed by the lowest bidder short-cycle and leave the house muggy. We size with load calculations and favor variable-speed equipment that holds both temperature and humidity.
- Salt-pitted condenser coils. Gulf air a few hundred feet away eats aluminum fins fast. We rinse, coat, and tell you plainly when a coil is past saving.

My Crystal Beach rental's AC died on a Saturday changeover. How fast can you come?
We run service 7 days a week, 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM, and prioritize no-cool calls in peak season. Call or text (850) 460-2648 — same-day diagnosis is the norm, and our trucks carry the common failure parts (capacitors, contactors, fan motors) to fix most breakdowns in one visit.
How much does an AC replacement cost in Crystal Beach?
Most full system replacements in our service area run $7,000 to $12,000 depending on tonnage, brand, and efficiency, confirmed after an on-site inspection. Free estimates, GoodLeap financing available, and qualifying high-efficiency systems may earn utility rebates.
Salt air is visibly eating our outdoor unit. Is it worth protecting or should we replace?
If the coil is pitted but holding refrigerant, a coating plus regular fresh-water rinses can buy years. Once it leaks, coastal economics usually favor replacement over a coil swap — especially with the shift away from older refrigerants. We'll show you the readings and give you both numbers.
Can you keep a Crystal Beach rental's AC on a maintenance schedule?
Yes. Our Customer Care Plan covers two seasonal tune-ups a year, which catches weak capacitors and fan motors before the peak-weekend failure, and keeps salt buildup on the coil in check.
What size system does a raised cottage near Scenic Gulf Drive need?
Smaller than most people guess. Raised coastal cottages with good shading often need less tonnage than their square footage suggests, and oversizing causes the humidity problems guests complain about. We size with a proper load calculation, never by rule of thumb.
